One of the standout offerings at High Ground is their coffee, which has consistently received rave reviews. As SJ Sethu mentions, the coffee is crafted with intention, resulting in a delightful beverage that sets the bar high for all other coffee shops. Coupled with this, their pastries, particularly the sumptuous pain au chocolat, are a treat, providing a perfect balance of buttery richness and texture.

“ I have tried many coffee places in Islington but this one stood out for me because of the service. The guy behind the counter was super nice and knowledgeable (don't know the name but had a big beard) and the pastries were okay. Will be back for sure! ”
“ The coffee was delightful, clearly made with care and attention. The staff were equally wonderful — cheerful and welcoming. The pain au chocolat was rich, buttery, and perfect for vegetarians. Thank you for the lovely experience! ”
“ The coffee and panini were amazing. It's going to be my regular haunt now. Conveniently located on the high street, the guys who run it are friendly and great atmosphere. I will be returning soon. Daniel ”
“ Came in the evening, so walked into a wine bar rather than a coffee shop. Came for a glass of wine, and stayed for a few. Staff were very friendly and helpful, picking some really great wines for us to try. I got some crab toast that was absolutely gorgeous, honestly the perfect snack. A super nice, small wine bar for a quiet drink. ”
“ I have had the best veggie sandwich! A perfect curated recipe honestly. My expectations wasn’t high, i just needed to eat sth before work, i ordered without thinking too much, after the first bite i have lost control of time and just enjoyed it as it lasted.. artichoke was sour and i tasted bir of a honey, maybe it was spich homey that fitted perfectly. With pesto and melted mozzarella. Honestly it was good. ”
“ A cute cafe that has 2 floors (come in deeper and you can find the stairs that lead you downstairs). I loved their cute latte art the miso cookie was nice too! ”
“ This place is an absolute gem! The coffee is rich and perfectly brewed, with a great variety of options — from classic espresso to creative seasonal specials. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it an ideal spot to relax or get some work done. The staff are friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Plus, the pastries are fresh and delicious, pairing perfectly with the drinks. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area! ”
“ Came here on a balmy morning for a coffee and a cookie and I was not disappointed. I had an iced flash brew which was full bodied and beautifully clear. The shoryu chocolate cookie was the perfect balance of crumble and moisture. There are two tables and chairs outside under an awning, with several spaces inside along purpose built counters. There’s a wide selection of wine available to purchase too, if that’s your thing. Staff are polite and charming. Highly recommended. ”
